Dyslexia is better understood than ever before and is increasingly shared and discussed in the news and online.
Formal diagnosis can help children and young people to be supported effectively at school, to engage with educational opportunities more successfully and to feel more positive about themselves. The skills and strategies they develop in school will allow them to succeed at university and in the workplace.
Why Book an Assessment?
A Learning Profile assessment will:
Help to ensure that your child has what they need to thrive at every stage of their school career, helping them to reach their full potential as a happy and successful learner
Formally identify underlying specific learning difficulties - dyslexia
Help you to learn how your child learns so you can understand them better and help them to understand themselves
Give you peace of mind, knowing that your child will have more meaningful provision and targeted support at school, in external exams and beyond
The impact of COVID lockdowns on dyslexic learners
Although Covid feels like a distant memory, the impact on the learning of children and young people will be felt for many years to come. Although many pupils with dyslexia enjoyed the opportunity to work at their own pace during the national lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, it has been harder for them to return to the classroom and to catch up on lost learning.
The identification of dyslexic learners and the development of support plans to meet their needs is, as a consequence, more crucial than ever.
This poem was shared by Jane Broadis, a Year 6 teacher, on X. It’s a powerful poem, written by a dyslexic girl in her class. It reflects the challenges that children with dyslexia can face in terms of how they see themselves and feel they are seen, but also the strength that can come from knowing who you are, how you learn and what you can achieve.
A dyslexia assessment can help children and young people to get to know themselves, and to see that they are capable learners with lots to offer.
